Location: Brisbane
Remuneration: Competitive remuneration and benefits
About the Role: Aurizon Network is seeking a commercially minded professional to join our Customer team, supporting the commercial and contractual arrangements that underpin access to Central Queensland's rail network.
This role sits within a regulated monopoly infrastructure business and is responsible for managing customer access agreements, commercial enquiries, contract administration and stakeholder engagement across a portfolio of customers.
Importantly, this is not a sales or business development role. Aurizon Network does not compete for customers in the traditional sense, and success is not measured through revenue generation or sales activity. Instead, you will work within established contractual, regulatory and commercial frameworks to help customers access and use rail infrastructure while ensuring outcomes remain compliant, practical and commercially sound.
This position is well suited to professionals who enjoy solving complex commercial problems, managing contracts, analysing issues, and working across legal, finance, operations and regulatory functions.
Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you will:
- Manage the commercial and contractual relationship for a portfolio of rail access customers.
- Draft (with legal assistance), review and administer customer agreements, contractual notices and commercial correspondence.
- Assess customer proposals and enquiries, identifying contractual, commercial and operational implications.
- Coordinate infrastructure access, project and capacity-related enquiries across the business.
- Support the negotiation and implementation of contractual amendments and other commercial arrangements.
- Develop a detailed understanding of customer contracts, network operations and regulatory obligations.
- Work with finance, legal, engineering, operations and pricing teams to deliver customer outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and enhanced customer experience within existing frameworks.
- Communicate customer requirements, issues and emerging risks across Aurizon Network.
About You:
You are an analytical and commercially focused professional who enjoys working through complex issues and developing practical solutions. You have strong written communication skills, sound judgement and confidence engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have developed experience in commercial, contractual, legal, finance, regulatory or advisory environments and are looking to build broader exposure within a major infrastructure business.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3+ years' experience in a commercial, contract management, advisory, legal, finance or related role.
- Strong commercial and financial literacy.
- Good written communication and document drafting skills.
- Experience interpreting, managing or negotiating contractual arrangements.
- The ability to analyse information, identify issues and develop recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach with strong attention to detail.
Highly regarded:
- Experience within transport, infrastructure, resources, utilities or other regulated industries.
- Exposure to economic regulation, access frameworks or customer contracts.
- Qualifications in commerce, economics, law, finance, accounting or a related discipline.
Looking for Your Next Commercial Challenge?
This opportunity will appeal to professionals seeking a commercial career path rather than a traditional sales or account management role. If you're interested in contracts, commercial problem-solving, infrastructure and stakeholder engagement in a complex regulated environment, we'd like to hear from you.

You will gain exposure to:
- Complex commercial and contractual arrangements.
- Rail infrastructure and network operations.

- Senior stakeholder engagement across customer organisations and Aurizon.
- A collaborative, high-performing and supportive team environment.
