Location: Brisbane
Join Aurizon and play a key role in delivering major rail infrastructure projects across Queensland.
We're seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of capital, operational maintenance and externally funded projects across Aurizon's rail network. This is a hands-on role that combines office-based engineering and field delivery activities with approximately 70% of time spent in the office and 30% on-site. Working closely with project teams, contractors and operational stakeholders, you will help deliver track and civil infrastructure projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
While the majority of projects are located across Queensland and NSW, this role may also provide opportunities to support interstate projects as required. This position offers exposure to a diverse range of rail infrastructure projects and the opportunity to further develop your expertise within one of Australia's largest rail freight businesses.
About the role
Reporting to the Asset Leader QLD/NSW, you will provide civil engineering expertise across a portfolio of capital and operational works projects, supporting project planning, design review, construction delivery and asset handover activities. Approximately 30% of your time will be spent on site, providing engineering oversight and ensuring projects are delivered safely and effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the delivery of track, earthworks, drainage and associated civil infrastructure projects
- Providing engineering input throughout project planning and execution phases
- Reviewing designs, specifications and technical documentation
- Coordinating contractors and project stakeholders during construction activities
- Monitoring project progress, resolving technical issues and identifying improvement opportunities
- Supporting commissioning, testing and asset handover activities
- Ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety requirements and industry best practice.
About you
You will be a practical and proactive engineer who enjoys being on site and seeing projects delivered from concept through to completion.
To be successful, you'll bring:
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering with at least 4 years of experience
- Demonstrated experience delivering civil infrastructure or construction projects
- Experience working in site-based engineering, project delivery or construction environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and contractor management skills
- The ability to make sound decisions and solve problems in a dynamic operational environment
- A willingness to travel throughout Queensland, NSW and Interstate as required.
Experience in rail infrastructure, transport, resources, construction or heavy industry environments will be highly regarded.
