Aurizon is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to join our Employee Relations team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a broad range of strategic ER initiatives, including enterprise bargaining, dispute resolution, employee relations strategy and key business projects. Reporting to the Manager Remuneration & Employee Relations, you will provide specialist employee and industrial relations expertise across Aurizon. Your focus will be on delivering strategic and operational ER support, bargaining, partnering with business leaders and stakeholders to navigate complex industrial and employee relations matters. Aurizon currently has 18 enterprise agreements spanning rail, maintenance, infrastructure and ports. With over 6,000 employees and a national footprint, Aurizon offers both the scale and complexity that ER professionals value.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting enterprise bargaining negotiations and implementation activities
- Providing expert advice on employee and industrial relations matters
- Managing and supporting dispute resolution processes Contributing to the development and execution of employee relations strategy
- Supporting major business initiatives
- Enterprise Agreement and Award interpretation
- Preparing ER documentation, briefs and recommendations for key stakeholders
- Partnering with leaders to ensure consistent and compliant employee relations practices
- Supporting advocacy activities and external tribunal matters where required
- Contributing to continuous improvement of ER frameworks, tools and processes.
You are an established ER specialist or HR practitioner with solid ER experience who enjoys solving complex workplace challenges and influencing positive business outcomes.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Experience in Employee Relations, Industrial Relations or Workplace Relations
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, Law or a related discipline
- Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial instruments
- Experience supporting bargaining, disputes and complex ER matters
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to balance commercial outcomes with compliance and employee experience
- A proactive mindset and desire to continue developing your ER expertise.
