The Opportunity
Visy Logistics, part of the wider Visy Group, is hiring a Dispatcher to be based on-site in Wiri. In this role you will be responsible for the safe transport of cargo across the Intermodal division. You will be in charge of allocating jobs to the appropriate vehicles and the first point of contact for drivers and customers.
The shift pattern for this role is Monday to Friday 9pm to 5.30am. You will also be required to work two weekends per month either on the Saturday night shift or Sunday day shift.
Other key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring all customer requests are planned and assigned to the intermodal team.
- Liaising with customers and carriers to inform them of any delays that will affect their shipment request.
- Daily liaison with carrier base to secure available transport, pursuing the lowest cost carrier per lane without jeopardising the customer’s transport requirements and relationship.
- Manage System Operational Alerts - actioning request changes and ensuring orders are correct and carriers notified of amendments and that no alerts are sitting In Progress.
- Triangulate containers within Visy to increase reuse opportunities.
- Manage cartage to yard to ensure containers are removed from port within free time.
- Developing excellence in people – working with drivers to ensure all loads are completed safely and on time.
What you will bring to the team
- At least three years of experience in a Dispatcher role or similar.
- Driver management experience.
- A background in Transport.
- IT and computer Savvy.
- Customer Service experience
- Familiar with using Transport Management Systems.
