About the Role
At Visy Paper Mills in Smithfield, NSW, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Industrial Electrician to join our team. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within our state-of-the-art paper manufacturing plant. Your role is crucial in ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance of all electrical components, working closely with other maintenance personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, and control systems within the paper manufacturing plant.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues to ensure minimal disruption to production.
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment.
- Collaborate with maintenance team members to improve overall plant efficiency and safety.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and electrical repairs.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
What You Will Bring to the Team
- Qualified Electrician with a valid electrician’s license. (AUS Recognized)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an electrician, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems: AC & DC electrical systems, High Voltage Switching Cert (Desirable), and both LV and HV electrical knowledge.
- Technical support and reporting skills, including maintaining transformers and switchgear, and performing various HSE-related inspections.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to electrical work.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to work in a rotating schedule and perform standby services as per site requirements, including weekends and public holidays.
