What will you do
Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Follow policies & procedures related to safety at work.
- Supporting the Lab Supervisor to manage and maintain good housekeeping practices.
- Support the lab supervisor with mill technical investigations.
- Carry out routine performance monitoring/maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment as well as troubleshooting of these when required.
- Procedure and document development and updates as well as training and auditing of other laboratory staff.
- Participate in CEPI proficiency testing and actively improve accuracy and precision of laboratory data.
- Carry out in-process testing verification and final product quality testing with speed and accuracy while not causing delays to required operational changes or production.
- Provide coverage for Mill Laboratory Technicians if required.
- Minimize retest (chemical cost), breakages (materials cost), and damage to major instruments/equipment (CAPEX budget).
- Development, review and writing of procedures, as well as reporting.
What you will bring to the team
- Minimum two years’ experience in a similar role
- Chemistry or Science Degree
- Working experience within a manufacturing process laboratory (beneficial but not mandatory)
- Underpinning knowledge and understanding of tests conducted within the laboratory
- Experience working in or with laboratories under ISO 17025 compliance would be beneficial
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Sound numerical skills with good demonstration in paying attention to details
- Shows initiative and work as a team player
- Well-developed interpersonal skills to be able to work with a range of different levels within the organisation
- Ability to influence and persuade others
- Sound troubleshooting skills
- Self-motivated & fast learner
- Able to work under pressure and prioritise correctly
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, able to delegate when necessary but remain hands-on when required
- Ability to respond to challenges as they arise
