Role details
We are on the lookout for a motivated and proactive Repair Technician to join our Paper and Pulp team based in Tumut at our State of the Art Paper Mill. Reporting to the Repair Workshop Coordinator, your primary focus areas will be to repair equipment, perform break-in work, optimise time to repair through procedures, tools and equipment, facilities, and skill development.
What you'll do
- Precision repair
- Repair of equipment to original manufactured standards and specifications
- Optimise time to repair through procedures, tools and equipment, facilities and skill development.
- Perform break-in work (described as any work requested without Repair Work Order)
- Reducing Total number of RWO’s
- Pack and prepare for protection while in storage.
- Minimise rework and infant failure.
- Safety
- Carry out all duties in a safe manner and adhering to site policy and procedures.
- Promote an environment where any unsafe practices are reported immediately.
- Undertake JSEA/risk assessments.
- Report any issues arising from the operation of the equipment to HSE Manager.
- Actively participate in Emergency Response Team (ERT), HSE Committee and Shift Meetings as required.
- Initiate actions to improve health and safety
- Evaluate the OH&S requirements before purchasing goods and services.
What you will bring
To secure this opportunity you will possess knowledge and understanding of maintenance/repair processes within a continuous manufacturing environment.
Mandatory
- Trade qualification: Fitting & Machining
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading and delivering maintenance repairs.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance
- Proven leadership experience that delivers results in overall performance and peer mentoring.
- Proven ability to “repair” as opposed to replace.
- Strong ability to recognise and understand the philosophy of “repair” versus “maintain”
- As part of this role manual handling, the ability to work in hot/humid conditions and being physically fit, is essential for the requirements of this role.

Desirable
- Extensive experience and proven ability machining precision components
- Heavy Industrial Manufacturing environment experience
- Proven ability to drive problem solving and root cause analysis techniques
- Ability to Metal Arc, Mig, Tig and Gas weld
- High Risk Work Licences I.e. Forklift, EWP, Cranes, Dogging, Rigging
- Pneumatics and Hydraulics experience
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Ability to make decisions on serviceability of components when overhauling parts
