The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Manufacturing Manager to join our Primary Packaging (Plastics) site based in Heathwood QLD.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be accountable for the safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of both production and maintenance activities. Overseeing a team of 70 with 9 direct reports.
You will be responsible for leading the execution of manufacturing operations, managing the Repairs & Maintenance budget, overseeing site maintenance systems, developing team capabilities, and driving continuous improvement and reliability initiatives in a 24/7 production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Foster a proactive safety culture across all shifts.
- Manage daily production to meet throughput, quality, and delivery targets.
- Control budgets, forecasts, and inventory to optimise resource use.
- Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance programs.
- Plan and deliver minor engineering projects.
- Maintain product quality and lead responses to quality issues.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives using lean tools.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high performing, engaged team.
What you will bring to the team
- 5+ years in production or engineering/reliability leadership within high-volume manufacturing (FMCG or Packaging preferred).
- Engineering degree or trade qualification
- Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent understanding of safety systems.
- Strong expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Six Sigma.
- Proven track record of improving processes, reducing waste, and increasing OEE.
- Skilled in root cause analysis and structured problem-solving.
- Experience managing both production and maintenance operations.
- Background in delivering minor engineering or equipment upgrade projects.
- Solid understanding of HSE compliance and frontline risk management.
- Demonstrated ability in team development and performance management across shifts.
