The opportunity:
Charta Packaging is a division of Visy, who are a global leader in sustainable packaging and resource recovery. Based in modern premises in East Tamaki, Highbrook, Charta has some of the latest state of the art machinery, unique to New Zealand. Charta specialises in manufacturing high quality corrugated cardboard packaging and premium printing.
As a Lead Operator you will be responsible for operating converting machinery to meet agreed production, service and quality standards. You will support a production line team and in the event of the supervisor’s absence you will step up and lead the team for the shift. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Being fully conversant on all aspects of machine operation and quality processes and systems.
- Ensuring equipment is correctly maintained and maintenance is performed regularly.
- Perform Job changes, machine setups, dismantling, and maintenance.
- Perform quality inspection checks and other procedural checks to ensure the best quality product is delivered to our customers.
- Regularly review work processes and assist in identifying improvements.
- Provide leadership and training to other team members as required.
- Maintain safe work and operating practices, and a high level of housekeeping at all times.
What you will bring to the team:
To be successful in this role, you will have a minimum of 3 years machine operating experienced, within a fast-paced dynamic manufacturing environment along with the following.
- Experience working on corrugator machinery within a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Have strong interpersonal skills (clear communication, self-confidence, teamwork and collaboration).
- The ability to work under pressure and display a good eye for detail particularly in quality control.
- Most importantly is your attitude, you’ll be performance driven, be adaptable to changes in the workplace and be keen to learn new skills, processes, and procedures.
- Due to the physical demands of this role, you will have proven ability to work in a physically demanding and fast paced environment.
