About the Role:
This is a fixed-term position covering maternity leave for up to 11 months. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the financial and management reporting functions of a national business with 14 depots across Australia. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, contributing to process improvements, and supporting operational and financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily accounting tasks, including general ledger entries and record keeping
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure the accuracy of financial records
- Maintain and organise financial files and documentation
- Manage data entry and ensure proper filing of financial information
- Assist with month-end close activities and preparation of monthly profit and loss reporting
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations
- Respond to and resolve accounts payable queries
- Support ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- CPA qualification (completed or working towards completion)
- 2-4 years' experience in a similar accounting role
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (advantageous)
- Experience within the transport or logistics industry (highly regarded)
