The Role & The Team:

As the Senior Commercial Advisor for the Airservices OneSKY Program, you will report to the OneSKY Strategic Assurance Manager and work as part of a joint team combining Airservices and Department of Defence personnel.

You will consider the requirements of Airservices particularly the OneSKY Change Program by providing advice on planning and execution of commercial activities in line with Commonwealth Procurement rules and value for money principles. You will manage the commercial element of the relationship with the OneSKY suppliers and assess and treat emerging commercial risk and issues and report through OneSKY Change Program governance.

A key requirement is for you to produce appropriate contract management plans that meet Airservices policy and operational requirements. This will include the commercial management of the eco system of partnering organisations that will provide commercial assurance services to the OneSKY Change Program.

This role combines commercial professional, stakeholder relationship management, contract management and supplier relationship and performance management.

The Senior Commercial Advisor will have a key role in the Sustainment Program and lead responsibility for implementation and further development of sustainment contracts in accordance with Airservices required outcomes particularly in relation to costs, schedule, and internal business requirements.

The successful applicant will provide commercial advice and contract management services across the Sustainment and related work on the OneSKY Program. In this role you will have day to day responsibility for providing commercial support and advice to stakeholders on the Sustainment Program as well as ensuring suppliers efficiently and effectively deliver Sustainment contracts while mitigating commercial threats and taking up commercial opportunities.

The Senior Commercial Advisor is a member of the OneSKY Program and provides a proactive, consistent, and responsive approach to achieving value for money from third party spend and driving greater supplier performance. This will allow the program to optimise their service delivery model/s and provide an efficient, effective, and economical service to Airservices. You will work closely with the OneSKY Finance & Procurement Team and legal services in relation to the Sustainment Program.

The Person

As an established commercial professional, you will have the proven ability, skills and experience that will enable you to work in a ‘hands-on’ manner to get the job done through a mix of remote and office working. You will have the self-motivation to pursue the best contractual outcomes for Airservices to optimise service delivery requirements including the financial aspects of the contract. This is critical to ensure that a safe, reliable, effective, and economical service is provided to Airservices.

The successful applicant will have: 

  • Experience applying mature commercial skills with a pragmatic and strategic focus.
  • Formal qualification in legal, commercial, supply chain management or other similar business discipline(s) desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and review various correspondence, minutes, contract, and related documents and to support the management of suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to evaluate ongoing commercial performance and identify critical success factors and instigate continuous improvement or corrective action activities.
  • Demonstrated organisational and drafting skills, including the management of critical contract records.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with influence.
  • Demonstrated sound judgement and business acumen, with a focus on results in a service delivery environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and to develop and present innovative solutions and influence outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strategic relationships to facilitate partnerships and cooperation.
  • Demonstrated application of ethical behaviours, integrity, uprightness, and honesty.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (including SharePoint).
  • Diversity of experience across the private and public sectors is desirable.

Security Clearance

To be eligible to apply, you must be an Australian Citizen or a Permanent resident.  

Eligibility to obtain a baseline security clearance will be highly regarded (Australian citizenship required).
