The Opportunity

Monash University’s Department of Occupational Therapy, School of Primary and Allied Health Care is seeking to appoint sessional Teaching Associates. Opportunities exist for keen occupational therapists to join our team of Practice Educators in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Monash University.

We are seeking registered occupational therapists as Practice Educators across a variety of fieldwork settings in which Monash University undergraduate and masters entry level occupational therapy students undertake professional practice placements and simulated placements. To date, our team of practice educators have worked with occupational therapy students to facilitate their learning and development within aged care facilities, kindergartens and primary schools, physical and vocational rehabilitation, telehealth practice, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) service providers and community mental health programs in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Practice educators must be registered occupational therapists with a minimum of two years professional practice experience since graduation, and prior experience of providing occupational therapy placement-based education is desirable. Professional practice experience in one or more of the specific practice areas listed above is preferred (not essential). Practice educators are part-time, with flexible schedules depending on the type and duration of student placements. Practice educators have access to professional development activities that support further development of educational roles.

A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required. Depending on the nature of the placement sites, a National Disability Insurance Scheme Worker Screening Check (NDIS Check) may also be required.

We encourage applications from First Nations people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disabilities, neurodiverse people, and people of all genders, sexualities and age groups.

Join us in our commitment to ensuring a better future for ourselves and for the communities in which we study, work, live and engage – #ChangeIt with us.
