The Opportunity
Join a leading force in public health medicine at Monash University! We are seeking an experienced and visionary School Manager to lead and drive the administrative and professional services functions of our renowned School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, based at the Alfred Hospital Campus.
As the most senior professional staff member in the School, you will play a critical role in managing business operations, financial planning, research services, academic programs, and external relationships. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, including the Head of School and Sub Faculty Dean, to develop and implement strategic plans that support our mission of advancing health research, education, and community impact. This position requires exceptional leadership and people management skills to inspire a high-performing team, maintain strong networks, and foster a culture of growth and development across all professional support areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage administrative services, research governance, financial planning, and academic support functions
- Provide expert financial and resource advice to the School’s leadership
- Develop the School’s annual budget, monitor compliance, and deliver detailed financial analyses
- Lead change management initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and align with strategic priorities
- Establish effective relationships within the School, across the University, and with external stakeholders
- Promote a safe and healthy work environment and contribute to school governance and risk management
Qualifications and Skills:
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience at an executive management level
- Extensive experience in strategic planning, financial management, human resources, and business development in a complex environment
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing large teams and budgets
- Proven ability to navigate and influence within a tertiary education, medical research, or hospital-based setting
- Highly developed interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
