We are seeking a talented and motivated Communications and Content Coordinator to join our team at the Monash Innovation Labs. This pivotal role will contribute to delivering industry-focused communications and engaging content that supports a wide variety of initiatives. The role will collaborate with the Faculty, central Marketing and Communications teams, and other areas of the University to develop and execute a cohesive communications strategy aimed at engaging stakeholders in the Monash Innovation Labs program.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Deliver industry focused communications - including content development, social media strategy and plans with an emphasis on the Monash Innovation Labs
- Foster effective relationships and work collaboratively with university staff and industry partners to generate and/or identify communication activities, storylines and newsworthy angles for inclusion in communication channels
- Research and write content for a range of communication channels including eDM, media releases, videos, social media, brochures and reports
- Lead the development of collateral to maximise understanding and impact of industry focused activities
- Working closely with and through the University central media team, pursue story opportunities with external channels
- Report against agreed communication KPI’s, creating reports as required and where applicable offering insights for continuous improvement
- Support the planning and delivery of a range of industry focused events
- Together with relevant staff review event/activity outcomes against KPI’s, feeding back to stakeholders on event success and presenting recommendations for future events
- Provide editorial advice, including editing and proofreading documentation prepared by others.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the Communications and Content Coordinator role at Monash University will have a degree in communications, public relations, media studies, or a related field, along with significant relevant experience. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence a broad range of stakeholders, including senior staff. They will also have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to create and produce content across various communication channels. Experience in developing and implementing communication activities, generating editorial content, and securing media coverage is essential.
The appointee should have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement. They will also be experienced in event coordination, including managing invitations and liaising with external venues. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and desktop publishing software. Additional project management skills and the ability to streamline processes for increased efficiency will be crucial. Basic graphic design capabilities for creating visual collateral, such as PowerPoint presentations, will also be beneficial. The successful candidate will be dynamic, proactive, and eager to contribute to the success of the Monash Innovation Labs communication initiatives.
