The Opportunity
Join the School of Media, Film and Journalism’s dynamic Journalism program, where industry-based teaching and real-world journalism experiences are at the forefront of our educational approach. As a senior member of our team, you will teach into the Journalism Major in the Bachelor of Arts, the Bachelor of Media Communication and the Master of Journalism degrees.
We have an exciting opportunity for the appointee to work alongside our internationally renowned journalism researchers in contemporary media debates and issues. Current and past staff research projects funded by the Australian Research Council include:
- Australian journalism, trauma and community
- The culture of implementing Freedom of Information in Australia
- Cartoon Nation: Australian Editorial Cartooning - Past, Present and Future
Your role will also involve collaborating on significant research projects with the Constructive Institute Asia Pacific Hub and the Monash Climate Change Communications Research Hub, focusing on areas such as political communication, misinformation/disinformation, global news systems, and digital journalism.
About You
We are seeking a research leader with a proven track record in securing research grants and contributing to global media debates, including political communication, digital media, and contemporary journalism. Your ability to work collaboratively on research projects and your dedication to addressing contemporary media challenges make you an ideal candidate for this role.
You will be a dedicated lecturer with a passion for innovative teaching and curriculum reform, committed to preparing students for successful journalism careers through direct broadcasting experiences and industry partnerships.
