Education-Focused Opportunities in the School of Media, Film and Journalism

At the School of Media, Film and Journalism, our staff are dedicated to research and teaching across a diverse range of fields including media studies, communications studies, film, screen and cultural studies, journalism, and related interdisciplinary areas. We offer comprehensive degree programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 

Our School is home to several active interdisciplinary research units and boasts a wide network of national and international connections, engaging in numerous international research collaborations.

We are now seeking two academics passionate about teaching and education to join our team in the role of Lecturer (Education-Focused) in Media and Communications.

In this role, you will design, deliver, and evaluate a variety of teaching activities that actively engage students and effectively achieve learning outcomes. You will consult with students, demonstrating a student-centred approach, and foster flexible, inclusive learning environments. By utilising a mix of teaching and learning technologies, you will innovate teaching practices and design diversified, valid assessments. 

Additionally, you will lead unit and course development, participate in team teaching, and manage relevant administrative tasks. You will systematically collect and respond to student feedback to continuously improve teaching practices. Your role will also involve generating scholarly activity and research outputs that reflect an advanced understanding of educational practice in your field.

About You

You are an inspiring educator with a proven ability to teach effectively, motivating and engaging students to achieve their best. With a strong background in teaching and assessment within a tertiary environment, you bring a wealth of experience and a passion for education. Your expertise in curriculum development, particularly within higher education, ensures that your teaching methods are both innovative and effective.

In addition to your teaching prowess, you are actively involved in scholarly activities and research that inform and enhance your educational practices. A background in examining the role of media, democracy and social cohesion is central to the role. This will include expertise across misinformation/disinformation; climate change communication; media narratives; and/or media propaganda, strategic communications teaching across School sections and programs.
