The Opportunity

We have an exciting new position for a passionate Senior AV Engineer to join our Design team to support us in managing all things AV within the University! The Senior AV Design Engineer will be responsible for creating and maintaining a set of standard audiovisual room designs suitable for managing all teaching and meeting spaces within the University as an enterprise fleet. The role will supervise the work of both internal and external AV designers/consultants and is responsible for ensuring all design documents produced are compliant with the Monash AV standards framework.  The Senior Engineer will keep abreast of AV industry trends and make recommendations on the adoption of new technologies.

We pride ourselves on ensuring AV technology standards are incorporated effectively into the Monash teaching and administrative environment whilst also managing custom AV installations for specialist teaching or research use, as required. The AV Design team manages the AV technology standards incorporated into the Monash teaching and administrative environment (2000+ rooms) as well as a small number of custom AV installations for specialist teaching or research use.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have;

  • Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards and government regulations
  • High-level operational knowledge of audiovisual systems and emerging technologies covering individual room solutions and enterprise wide management.
  • Proven skills in audiovisual hardware/software, AV control system programming and AV digital and analogue cabling and communications protocols.
  • Excellent troubleshooting/problem solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and a demonstrated understanding of environmental sustainability issues and potential solutions within the AV space.
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills, excellent written and oral communication skills and a drive towards excellence in customer service
