The Opportunity
Monash University is seeking an experienced and visionary Technical Platform Lead to drive the strategic development and technical stewardship of our enterprise-wide Ellucian ecosystem. This pivotal role sits at the heart of our SMS Transformation (SMS-T) agenda, empowering you to make a tangible impact on the student lifecycle, academic administration, and operational excellence across one of Australia’s leading universities.

About the role
As Technical Platform Lead, you will guide the technical vision, governance, and delivery of the Ellucian platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and innovation. You will shape the University’s digital ecosystem, leveraging emerging technologies to enhance student and staff experiences, streamline processes, and elevate operational efficiency.
You will be empowered to:

Lead technical governance and platform capability across Ellucian Student (Banner), Degree Works, Ethos, Insights, and other associated systems.

Mentor and manage high-performing technical teams, fostering innovation, learning, and excellence.

Drive architecture, integration, and extensibility decisions, aligning solutions with strategic priorities.

Shape Agile development practices, CI/CD pipelines, testing automation, and deployment processes across Ellucian environments.

Engage with stakeholders University-wide to prioritise work, manage resources, and deliver impactful solutions.
What you will do

Lead the technical strategy and delivery of Monash’s Ellucian platform, including integrations and middleware solutions.

Mentor and manage developers, analysts, and testers, championing continuous improvement and adherence to industry best practices.

Influence University-wide digital strategy, providing technical insights and architectural guidance to senior leadership.

Implement processes to protect sensitive and personal information, ensuring compliance with University policies.

Stay ahead of emerging higher education technologies and Ellucian roadmap developments, bringing innovation into Monash’s ecosystem.
Who we are looking for

Extensive experience leading enterprise-scale SaaS platforms in higher education or similarly complex environments.

Deep expertise in Ellucian systems, Salesforce, integration patterns, APIs, and platform extensibility frameworks.

Strong skills in solution architecture, SDLC management, DevOps, and Agile delivery.

Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and consulting skills.
Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver results in dynamic, resource-constrained settings.

Familiarity with higher education domains such as student administration, enrolment, curriculum management, and government reporting.
