We are a leading, globally engaged Australian law school. We offer a rich, experiential legal education and have strong partnerships with the legal profession and industry, providing you with opportunities to make a real difference in the world.

In joining us, you become part of a community deeply engaged with making a difference, at local and global levels. We operate from seven locations across three continents. Our commitment to the community is reflected in our three community legal centres and our Melbourne CBD Law Chambers, as we mark 51 years of Monash Law Clinics this year.

At Monash Law, you'll be part of a vibrant academic culture, collaborating with world leaders in legal research and education. Our diverse and innovative research has a significant impact on government, professional, and social levels.

We are seeking an exceptional and collegiate academic leader to join our inclusive and collaborative team and play a significant role in enhancing the research output whilst contributing to the Faculty’s core teaching areas. This Professorial (Level E) role provides a unique opportunity to influence and develop the Faculty’s curriculum and research training programs, thereby shaping the future of educational research and practice.

This position demands a special responsibility in shaping policy development and academic excellence within the Faculty, the University, and the broader scholarly and general community. The successful candidate will be at the forefront of the Faculty’s mission, driving innovative research and fostering new research collaborations that align with the Faculty’s strategic goals.

About You

We are excited to welcome internationally recognised, collegial academic leaders who are eager to shape the success of Monash Law, and who have a passion for educational excellence and rigorous, impactful research.  Your leadership in fostering research excellence is evident through your successful acquisition of competitive grants and your active involvement in significant research projects.

We particularly welcome applications from individuals in disciplines that will further strengthen our research leadership and teaching offerings, such as:

  • Legal Ethics;
  • Property Law;
  • Equity; or
  • Trusts.

We welcome interest from legal scholars who take all and any approaches to their research (doctrinal, historical, comparative, philosophical and so on) as we look to build our capacity and expertise in socio-legal scholarship and research methodologies.

Additionally, with the largest clinical legal education programme in Australia and having celebrated 50 years of clinics in 2025, we are interested to hear from those who are able to further strengthen our clinical expertise.

Whether you are based domestically in Australia, in the Asia-Pacific region, or elsewhere around the world, we will value the positive and impactful contribution you will make to our team and our further success.
