The Opportunity

Social media plays a critical role in how Monash engages prospective students, current students, alumni and broader communities. As Social Media Planner, you'll lead the planning, coordination and optimisation of Monash University's organic and paid social activity, ensuring campaigns, content and channel execution are aligned to audience needs, brand priorities and business outcomes.

Working across recruitment, engagement and brand objectives, you'll translate marketing strategy into audience-led social plans that drive measurable impact. You'll develop platform-specific channel plans, coordinate content and placement calendars, oversee campaign deployment and optimise performance across platforms including Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok and emerging channels.

You'll play a key role in connecting social activity with broader marketing efforts across web, email, advertising and personalisation initiatives, helping deliver integrated, omni-channel audience experiences. Working closely with Brand, Content, Product Marketing and Marketing Technology & Analytics teams, you'll bring together creative, data and channel expertise to deliver scalable, insight-led social execution.

You'll also own and evolve Monash's always-on social planning approach, strengthening channel governance, measurement frameworks and best practice while identifying opportunities to test, learn and innovate across platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing strategy with execution, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants to shape how one of Australia's leading universities engages audiences at scale.

About You

You're an experienced social media professional who understands how to turn audience insights, content and data into effective channel strategies and measurable outcomes.

You have experience planning and optimising both organic and paid social activity, developing audience-led channel plans and coordinating campaigns across multiple platforms. You understand how social contributes to broader customer journeys and can connect channel activity to recruitment, engagement and brand objectives.

You're comfortable working with performance data, attribution models, tagging frameworks and analytics tools, using insights to inform optimisation and improve results. You understand the importance of governance, accessibility, brand consistency and channel best practice, and can balance creativity with operational rigour.

You enjoy working across teams and disciplines, building strong relationships with stakeholders, agencies and partners to deliver coordinated, high-impact marketing outcomes.

Most importantly, you're curious, proactive and passionate about social media, continuously exploring new opportunities to test, learn and improve channel performance.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement through testing, experimentation and optimisation, with experience evaluating emerging platforms, formats and audience opportunities.
