The Opportunity

We have two exciting six-month, part-time fixed-term opportunities for Stores Purchasing Officers, one working 0.6 FTE at the Alfred Hospital Campus and one 0.8 FTE at the Clayton Campus.

Working as part of the Purchasing Services Team, you’ll provide high-quality administrative, purchasing and inventory services to support the effective operation of the P2P Stores. You’ll be responsible for maintaining stock levels, ordering and receiving goods, managing inventory and responding to queries, while providing excellent service to staff, students and other stakeholders.

This is a hands-on role with an important focus on safety, compliance and continuous improvement. You’ll provide advice on the safe storage, handling and disposal of hazardous materials, including dangerous and temperature-sensitive products, while ensuring purchasing and inventory activities align with University policies, tax requirements and occupational health and safety standards. You’ll also contribute to analysing usage trends and improving processes to support efficient and responsive stores services.

Please note this position is 5 days on site.

About You

You’ll bring strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and deliver operational processes efficiently. A relevant tertiary qualification, substantial relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be highly regarded. You’ll also have strong computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office and purchasing or inventory management systems such as SAP.

You’ll be a customer-focused and practical team player who can communicate confidently with a diverse range of people and provide helpful, timely advice. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are important, along with the ability to identify issues, interpret data and develop effective solutions. Experience with chemicals, laboratory consumables and equipment, and the safe handling of hazardous materials, and a current forklift license, will be highly regarded.
