The Opportunity

Monash Nursing and Midwifery (MNM) is seeking to appoint multiple full-time Lecturers and Senior Lecturers who share a passion for research, teaching and engagement that aligns with the School's research and educational objectives, demonstrated through specialised teaching and clinical involvement in both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Monash Nursing and Midwifery recognises that education-focused academic staff are an elite cohort dedicated to innovation in learning and teaching. As an Education Focused Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, these roles will play a pivotal role in shaping world-class nursing and midwifery education.

The Senior Lecturer will lead the design, delivery, and evaluation of nursing and midwifery education across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The role includes coordinating units or courses, driving curriculum innovation, and implementing evidence-informed teaching practices. It involves mentoring staff, contributing to cross-faculty initiatives, and engaging in educational scholarship through research and conference presentations. The position also supports academic governance and includes the supervision of 2–4 staff.

The Lecturer position contributes to the development and delivery of teaching activities across undergraduate and postgraduate nursing and midwifery programs. Responsibilities include designing engaging learning experiences—such as tutorials, workshops, clinical sessions, and online content—as well as preparing subject materials and managing units under the guidance of senior staff. The role also involves implementing valid and authentic assessments aligned with learning outcomes. This position supports the early stages of leadership in education, with a focus on developing expertise in curriculum design and evidence-informed teaching practices.

Reporting to the Head of School, you will also engage in broad administrative activities and educational leadership at the school, faculty, or university level. We are looking for passionate educators with a strong foundation in nursing or midwifery, a track record of teaching excellence, and a desire to advance education in meaningful and innovative ways. Join us and help shape the future of nursing and midwifery education at Monash.

As one of Australia’s largest nursing and midwifery schools, we offer comprehensive courses across two Monash campuses – Clayton and Peninsula. Our high-quality tertiary degrees are delivered in a vibrant and supportive learning environment to equip students for a rewarding career in healthcare. MNM is dedicated to enhancing our capacity to lead innovative nursing curricula and pioneering teaching methods. For more information, visit: www.monash.edu/medicine/nursing

Also, if you can bring clinical or education leadership,  experience in acute care, cancer care, peri-operative care,  and are enthusiastic about contributing to our distinguished academic community, we encourage you to apply.
