The Opportunity

The Faculty of Engineering at Monash University is seeking a skilled Research Officer to support the PC2 Laboratory within the Faculty of Engineering. This role plays a key part in advancing the Biomedical Engineering program outcomes through complex research activities, including providing training in mammalian cell culture, bacteria culture, flow cytometry and microscopy, as well as administrative tasks, managing resources, and ensuring OHS compliance.

The ideal candidate will have experience with advanced research technologies, equipment, and protocols, and ideally, in a PC2 laboratory. Experience in cell culture, molecular biology, microscopy, and flow cytometry is desirable, along with strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and resolve complex issues through negotiation.
  • Experience with advanced technologies, including equipment and software, and a demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to and master new systems.
  • Experience working in or managing a PC2 Lab, with a solid understanding of PC2 compliance, OGTR guidelines, and OHS standards.
  • Hands-on experience with bacteria and mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, microscopy, and flow cytometry.
