The Opportunity
The Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) at Monash University is a global leader in IT research and education. The Monash AI Institute, launching in 2025, will drive cross-disciplinary research, engaging with industry, government, and international partners. Focused on human-centred AI, AI ethics, explainable AI, and generative AI, MAII is committed to ensuring responsible and trusted AI research and fostering large-scale AI initiatives.
The Operations and Partnerships Specialist will play a pivotal role in managing the operational and partnership functions of the Monash AI Institute. This includes administration, financial oversight, compliance, stakeholder engagement, and business reporting. The role will support research partnerships, funding applications, and strategic planning to enhance the Institute’s visibility and impact.
Key Responsibilities but not limited to:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Monash AI Institute, including administration, finance, and compliance.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and operational effectiveness.
- Oversee resource allocation, budget management, and performance tracking.
- Ensure compliance with university policies, contract management, and risk assessment.
- Support research partnerships, funding applications, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Assist in communication, governance, and strategic planning initiatives to enhance the Institute
The ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate will have postgraduate qualifications (or progress toward a degree) in Business, IT, Science, or Engineering, with extensive relevant experience. They will possess strong operational and financial management skills, along with expertise in stakeholder engagement, research funding processes, and commercialisation preferably within AI and data science contexts.
