The Opportunity

Reporting to the Program Director, Transformation Lead, the Capability Lead drives specific streams aligned to the University’s transformational projects, ensuring the successful introduction, modernisation and evolution of processes, tools, and technologies to support the University’s future-focussed ambitions. Critical to the success of this role is the ability to build and sustain effective partnerships with stakeholders and external providers to drive meaningful change.

In the context of the Student Management System Transformation (SMST) program, the Capability Lead carries out the specific task/ project of overseeing the development and implementation of new digital solutions to support modern student administration processes in the current 2 year phase. This includes all aspects of delivery including managing project milestones, risks, budget and change management to ensure successful delivery of the particular capability.

Additionally, as an expert in their field, the Capability Lead provides design recommendations as well as actively collaborating with technical delivery specialists and architects as well as program and university leadership and colleagues, to ensure seamless integration of solutions to the Monash ecosystem, robust security, and operational sustainability.

To be successful in this role eligible candidates will have:

  • Demonstrated awareness and depth of interest in understanding the enterprise technology landscape across core platforms of large organisations
  • Superior interpersonal and consulting skills with the ability to negotiate, influence and build understanding of business needs and technology-enabled business process reform
  • Excellent and proven ability to manage and lead strategically and provide technical solutions and expert advice at a high level
  • Outstanding planning and organisational skills with a demonstrated track record in successful programme delivery and the application of contemporary IT management practices, methodologies and tools
  • Significant staff management experience with the ability to lead and develop high performing teams at various levels of technical, business and service skill
  • Strong project management skills with a proven understanding and application of all aspects of project cycle, coupled with a track record of successful change management
