The Opportunity
As the Microsoft Services Manager, you will be at the helm of managing and operating the Microsoft enterprise server and database platforms for the University. You will lead a team of engineers dedicated to designing, building, integrating, and operating Microsoft platforms that support a wide range of faculty and critical university divisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management: Inspire and guide a team of engineers to achieve high service availability and meet agreed service targets.
- Innovation & Automation: Drive excellence in automation and innovation within the management of the environment.
- Resource Development: Lead resource development and create policies, operating procedures, strategies, and reporting mechanisms.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other Enterprise Engineering teams to develop standard solutions and design bespoke solutions to meet specific business needs.
- Project Management: Manage the implementation of major projects and change initiatives with institution-wide impact.
To be successful in the role the eligible candidate will have:
- Technical proficiency in on-premise Microsoft server and database platforms and management systems (e.g. Windows Server, System Centre, Operations Manager, MSSQL)
- Demonstrated experience in system analysis including a thorough knowledge of ICT & ICT security best practices
- Excellent management and customer service skills with proven ability to strategically manage and provide authoritative technical and policy advice at a high level
- Outstanding planning and organisational skills, with experience establishing priorities, allocating resources and meeting deadlines in a large, complex organisation
- Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills including proven ability to troubleshoot within a large & complex ICT environment
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build successful relationships, influence, negotiate and achieve consensus at senior levels
- Demonstrated ability to manage major change initiatives in a complex and specialised area of operations
