The Opportunity

The Senior Engagement and HDR Officer plays a vital role in supporting Monash Law’s graduate research programs by delivering expert advice, high-quality support, and effective administrative coordination. This role is key to fostering strategic partnerships, both internal and external, and enhancing engagement activities for HDR students. Working closely with the Research Services Manager, the officer ensures smooth HDR operations, monitors academic progress, and maintains compliance with university policies. The role also contributes to research performance through specialised projects, data analysis, and reporting.

This position reports to the Research Services Manager and will be the primary liaison for all matters related to graduate research, offering expert advice and client services throughout the entire HDR candidature lifecycle. The position is responsible for building strong relationships across the university, including with central research units and other faculties, to support collaboration and the implementation of new systems. It also involves creating high-quality promotional materials in collaboration with the Marketing and Engagement team, as well as producing reports and analysis to track engagement, impact, and benchmarking against national and international standards. The officer ensures all HDR programs meet compliance, quality assurance, and risk management requirements, and contributes to ongoing improvement of processes in alignment with university policies and strategic goals.

To be appointable into this role you will have a degree qualification in a relevant field with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in coordinating effective administrative functions or services, with a strong commitment to excellence in customer service. They will demonstrate advanced planning, organisational, and project management skills, including the ability to implement process improvements and manage change initiatives.

Strong relationship management and consulting abilities are essential, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage confidently with a range of stakeholders. The role also requires well-developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities, a collaborative team approach, and proficiency in preparing professional documentation. High-level computer literacy and experience with business management systems are also critical to success in this role.
