The Opportunity

The Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology within the School of Biomedical Sciences is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join as an Assistant Lecturer/Demonstrator (CDPAE). The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of undergraduate teaching, primarily laboratory sessions and tutorials, as part of a collaborative team of Anatomy Sessional Educators under the guidance of senior staff from the Centre for Human Anatomy Education.

Continuing (Defined Periods) Academic employment is used when the University identifies work needed for specific teaching periods within a calendar year. This employment type encompasses defined working (paid) and non-working (unpaid) periods aligned with teaching commitments. Continuing (Defined Periods) Academic Employment is ongoing and part-time and will be offered for a minimum of 0.6 FTE during a defined working period. The fraction can be adjusted through a change of fraction form for a teaching period up to a maximum of 1 FTE throughout the duration of the defined working period and up to a maximum of 40 weeks within a calendar year. Continuing (Defined Periods) Academic Employment is an alternative to sessional employment and provides a more secure mode of employment, certainty of work and the opportunity for professional development and career progression.

As an Assistant Lecturer/Demonstrator (CDPAE), you will play an integral role in the teaching activities of the Centre, contributing significantly to both on-campus and rural health education. The position involves attendance at additional training sessions, seminars, and academic meetings beyond scheduled class times, along with participation in tasks such as preparation of teaching resources and assessment marking.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have completed a science degree with a major (or equivalent) in human anatomy and a masters or PhD in a relevant field, with an honours degree preferred You will possess a strong understanding of human topographical anatomy and its clinical relevance to undergraduate clinical anatomy education and biomedical science. Experience in willed body donor (cadaveric) dissection and/or donor (cadaver)-based teaching is ideal, along with a professional and collaborative approach to working with students, academic teams, and external partners.  Knowledge of full body gross anatomy is essential.
