The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and passionate Lecturer (Practice) to join our Department of General Practice.

In this role, you’ll bring your professional expertise from general practice or a related health discipline to enrich the learning experience of our students. You’ll design and deliver innovative, practice-oriented teaching that connects classroom learning with industry and community realities, preparing graduates for success in a global and rapidly changing health environment.

You will:

  • Prepare and deliver seminars, workshops and tutorials and be involved in subject coordination in both year 4C general practice teaching and the pre-clinical years clinical skills program;

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of new curriculum aligned with professional practice;

  • Act as a key liaison between the University, community, government and professional organisations, fostering external partnerships and engagement opportunities;

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to students undertaking professional or industry-based learning activities; and

  • Contribute to continuous improvement in teaching practices and curriculum design across the Faculty.

This position is ideal for an experienced practitioner-educator who thrives on connecting industry expertise with higher education impact.

About You

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Professional experience in a relevant discipline area and membership (or eligibility for membership) with a recognised professional body such as the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or equivalent;

  • Demonstrated teaching experience and a strong commitment to high-quality education and student success;

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across academia, industry, and community sectors;

  • A passion for shaping the next generation of health professionals through innovative curriculum and practice-based learning; and

  • Strong organisational and teamwork skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate and deliver outcomes within set timeframes.
