The Opportunity
Monash University is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Financial Accounting Manager to lead a high-performing team in delivering world-class financial reporting across Monash’s large, complex and globally diverse set of operations and entity structures. This pivotal role is responsible for the integrity of financial processes and systems, providing expert technical advice and managing consolidated financial reporting for the University and its controlled entities, while ensuring full compliance with regulatory and audit requirements.
This position will be responsible for managing the delivery of the group’s key financial accounting functions. This includes leading the month-end and year-end close process, managing the preparation of complex consolidated financial statements, and managing the financial audit process. You will also provide expert technical accounting advice and recommendations, ensure the accuracy and integrity of the SAP General Ledger, and maintain robust financial accounting policies and procedures. In addition, you will manage and develop a motivated team of finance professionals and collaborate across a broad stakeholder group to drive reporting excellence and continuous improvement across the University's financial ecosystem.
To be successful in this role, you will have postgraduate qualifications in accounting or business with current CA/CPA accreditation, alongside deep experience in financial reporting, audit management, and the application of Australian Accounting Standards. Your strong leadership skills will be complemented by exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts. Proven experience working with integrated financial systems and advanced Excel, Power Bi skills are vital, along with a passion for process improvement and implementation of efficiencies to maximize delivery of information..
