About Us
Monash Arts is one of Australia’s largest and most vibrant arts faculties, renowned for its breadth across the humanities, performing arts, languages and social sciences. With a strong commitment to interdisciplinary innovation, the Faculty delivers world-class programs through six schools and across six campuses—both locally and internationally—spanning undergraduate to postgraduate study and research. Our academic community is distinguished by its research excellence and deep engagement, bringing cutting-edge scholarship into the classroom to inspire the next generation of global thinkers and leaders.
To continue advancing our mission, we are now looking to appoint a Faculty General Manager (Executive Director level position) whose insight, influence and collaborative spirit will shape the future of Monash Arts
The Opportunity
This is a pivotal moment for Monash Arts, as we embark on the revitalisation of our signature Bachelor of Arts degree and deepen our engagement across a truly global footprint—including schools at our Caulfield and Clayton campuses, and Monash Malaysia. With rapidly growing research centres of excellence such as the ARC Centre for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Constructive Institute Asia Pacific, and the Climate Change Communication Research Hub, the Faculty is poised for bold advancement.
As Faculty General Manager, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the administrative, resource and business planning functions of the Faculty, supporting the Dean and collaborating with the broader Faculty Leadership Team to deliver high-quality academic and research programs aligned with Monash’s ‘Impact 2030’ strategy. Overseeing operations that span more than 17,000 students, 500 staff and $250 million in revenue, you will lead a diverse portfolio including academic and student services, financial management, graduate studies, marketing and communications, research support and strategic planning.
This is a rare opportunity to influence the future of one of Australia’s most dynamic arts faculties—driving innovation, fostering collaboration and ensuring operational excellence at every level.
About You
You are a dynamic and future-focused leader with a sharp eye for opportunity and a deep commitment to meaningful outcomes. A strategic thinker and pro-active problem solver, you thrive in complexity and bring clarity to change. You value genuine partnership—especially with the Dean—and understand the power of collaboration in building happy, healthy and high-performing communities. Entrepreneurial in spirit and grounded in purpose, you give voice to your values and lead with integrity. You see what needs to evolve, champion new ways of working, and have the courage to stop what no longer serves us.
Above all, you understand where Monash Arts is headed, and you know how to help us get there.
