The Opportunity

Are you ready to lead transformative change in how our students and staff experience university library spaces? Monash University Library is seeking an inspired Library Experience and Spaces Manager to drive innovation, inclusivity, and excellence across our diverse study environments.

In this pivotal role, you’ll work at the heart of strategic space planning and operational excellence - managing, and influencing the design of evolving public and staff workspaces to inspire collaboration, creativity, and wellbeing. From overseeing refurbishments and relocations to championing health, safety, and compliance, you’ll help to ensure our spaces reflect the needs of a modern university.

Leading a talented team of 6–8 professionals, you’ll work closely with the Services and Spaces Manager and Frontline Services Manager to deliver high-impact projects and services. With a strong focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion, you’ll help to shape programs that elevate the student experience and empower academic success.

What you’ll do:

  • Strategically plan and optimise Library spaces across our seven locations
  • Partner with University stakeholders to lead refurbishment and capital works projects with precision and creativity
  • Foster a culture of innovation, service excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Drive data-informed decisions through UX and service design methodologies
  • Champion health, safety, and wellbeing across all Library environments
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver impactful outcomes

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven leadership in facilities or space management, ideally in a university setting
  • Ability to develop and mentor team members to enhance project and service outcomes
  • Expertise in project management, team development, and strategic planning
  • A passion for creating inclusive, user-centred environments
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
