The Opportunity

Join Monash University’s Institute of Railway Technology (IRT), Australia’s leader in rail research and training. We’re seeking a technically‑savvy Senior Research Engineer Automation Services to drive real‑time monitoring and automation solutions that enhance rail safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

You’ll lead the design, implementation, and support of cutting‑edge real‑time computing, networking, and data‑processing systems, ensuring high uptime and compliance with cybersecurity standards. Building on your research and hands‑on experience, you’ll collaborate with IRT engineers and Monash IT to develop monitoring platforms, refine operational procedures, and deliver bespoke solutions to meet stakeholder needs.

This role demands both independent initiative and teamwork, with regular engagement across internal teams and industry partners to translate project requirements into innovative outcomes.
