The Opportunity

An exciting short-term opportunity to contribute to high-impact translational research.

The School of Translational Medicine (STM) is offering a 3-month internal appointment for a Senior Technical Officer to support research operations across our laboratories.

This role presents a valuable opportunity for a current Monash staff member to broaden their experience in a dynamic and multidisciplinary research environment. Working within the Research Operations Team, you will play a key role in supporting laboratory infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety and ethical standards, and assisting researchers, staff and students in their day-to-day activities.

About the Role

As Senior Technical Officer, you will:

  • Oversee technical operations and laboratory compliance, including PC2 and quarantine requirements.
  • Support OHS&E initiatives and contribute to a safe and efficient research environment.
  • Provide expert advice and training to staff and students on technical standards and protocols.
  • Assist with research administration during peak periods.
  • Maintain laboratory assets, equipment and service contracts.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone looking to expand their technical and operational expertise within a leading clinical research setting.

About You

You will bring:

  • A relevant degree or extensive experience in laboratory or technical operations.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety, compliance frameworks, and technical service delivery.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and ability to work across diverse teams.
