The Opportunity

Monash University is seeking a dynamic and analytical Management Accountant to join our collaborative Finance team. This role is key to supporting clients through a strategic business partnering model, providing expert, proactive and pre-emptive financial advice, driving performance through insightful analysis, and maximising research funding opportunities. With a focus on budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting, you'll play a vital role in empowering informed decision-making across the university’s research and revenue portfolios.

This position will be responsible for delivering high-quality management accounting services in line with best practices and performance standards. You will be responsible for preparing and monitoring budgets and forecasts for research grants and contracts, ensuring compliance and alignment with client expectations. Your role will involve analysing financial trends, identifying potential risks or opportunities, and providing strategic, data-driven recommendations. Additionally, you'll organise financial acquittals for external funding bodies, support continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain operational financial systems.

To be successful in this role you will have a degree in finance or accounting (CPA or CA qualification preferred), and proven experience in managing complex budgets and forecasts. You’ll bring strong analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to present financial information clearly to a range of audiences. Your focus on customer service and relationship-building, combined with high-level problem-solving abilities, will enable you to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Proficiency with large ERP systems such as SAP is highly desirable.
