The Opportunity
At Monash University Accommodation, we support a vibrant residential community of approximately 3,000 students across 13 residential communities. The Associate Director, Residential Support plays a pivotal leadership role in shaping the residential experience through high-quality management of policies, processes and community standards that underpin safe, supportive and enriching on-campus living.
Working in a complex, fast-paced environment, you will guide strategic and operational initiatives that enhance student wellbeing, belonging and personal development in a community context. This includes oversight of critical incident management, behavioural and welfare support, and the design of support programs and initiatives grounded in best practice for emerging adults predominantly in the age group of 17 - 25. Your leadership will help create inclusive, resilient communities that empower students to thrive.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Extensive experience developing and delivering strategies, programs or initiatives that positively influence the behaviour and wellbeing among emerging adults from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds in residential communities
- Strong experience in policy development, OHS application within residential or community settings, and managing compliance across complex operations
- Demonstrated capability in managing contractors, ensuring safety standards, contract compliance and strong service delivery outcomes
- Proven knowledge of, and experience with, mental health issues impacting young people
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, lead large teams, and communicate clearly and sensitively with a broad range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and monitoring comprehensive risk management strategies within student accommodation environments, including the effective management of critical incidents and the delivery of safe community education programs
