The Opportunity
The Faculty of Education at Monash University invites applications for a Professor of Education to provide outstanding academic leadership and drive internationally leading research.
This is a strategic appointment for a globally recognised scholar with a strong track record of high-impact publications and success in securing major competitive research funding. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the Faculty’s research agenda, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhancing our global reputation for excellence in education research.
Ranked #2 in Australia and #18 globally for Education (QS & THE Rankings), the Faculty offers an ambitious and collaborative environment with significant capacity for research growth and impact.
The appointed Professor will lead and grow a program of internationally recognised Education research, including securing substantial competitive research funding and building large-scale research initiatives. The appointment will also provide mentoring and capacity building for early- and mid-career researchers and HDR candidates. The Professor will foster strategic partnerships across academia, industry, and policy sectors and provide leadership in teaching and curriculum development.

About You
You are an internationally recognised leader in education research, with a distinguished record of scholarly achievement and a sustained trajectory of high-quality publications.
You bring:
- A strong track record of securing major competitive research grants and leading large-scale research programs.
- Evidence of research excellence and impact at an international level.
- Expertise in quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods research.
- Proven leadership in building and mentoring high-performing research teams.
- Success in attracting and supervising high-calibre HDR students.
- Experience developing impactful partnerships across sectors, including government, industry, and community.
You will demonstrate the capacity to shape research directions at scale, influence policy and practice, and contribute to a vibrant, collaborative academic culture.
