The Opportunity
The Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences is seeking expressions of interest from current Monash staff for the role of Histology Senior Officer within the Histology Platform.
This position plays an important role in supporting high quality biomedical research by providing expert histology services to researchers across the Faculty and broader Monash research community. Working within a specialist laboratory environment, you will coordinate and deliver histological services and technical support, contributing to the preparation, processing and analysis of biological specimens for research and teaching activities.
You will also support the effective operation of the histology facility, including maintaining equipment, ensuring laboratory compliance and contributing to continuous improvement of laboratory processes and services.
About the Role
Key responsibilities include:
• Delivering high quality histology services, including tissue processing, sectioning and staining
• Providing technical expertise and advice to researchers on histology methodologies and protocols
• Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring safe and compliant laboratory practices
• Supporting the coordination and efficient operation of histology laboratory activities
• Contributing to the development and improvement of laboratory protocols and procedures
• Supporting researchers, students and staff using the facility
About You
You will bring strong technical expertise in histology and experience working in a biomedical research or laboratory environment.
You will demonstrate:
• Experience in histological techniques including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning and staining
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• A commitment to laboratory safety, compliance and quality standards
• The ability to work collaboratively within a research support environment
