The Opportunity

Join the Student Finance team as a Senior Student Finance Accounting Officer and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of student fee operations. This position supports the delivery of reliable financial data, efficient administrative processes, and high-quality service to students and stakeholders, while working closely with internal teams and external partners across funding programs.

This position will be responsible for reconciling student accounts, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring the accuracy of incoming payments, credits, refunds, and financial journals in line with policy and procedure. You will ensure data consistency across multiple systems, including government and internal databases, and oversee the processing of refunds and sponsor transactions. The role also involves maintaining and reconciling general ledger and banking accounts, supporting audits, and analysing financial data to identify trends or issues. In addition, you will provide clear, timely advice to students and staff, contribute to continuous process improvements, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and financial procedures.

To be successful in this role you will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine commitment to customer service and the ability to explain complex information clearly. You will be comfortable working with Excel or Google Sheets, handling large data sets, performing reconciliations, and identifying trends with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organisational skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential, along with a willingness to learn and develop expertise in student finance systems and processes.
