The Opportunity

The School of Biomedical Sciences is seeking a Technical Officer to support the delivery and advancement of histology services within the Monash Histology Platform. This position contributes to the effective operation and growth of a multi-site research facility, strengthening service capability, supporting platform development, and enhancing integration across research, education, and technical service environments.

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering technical histology operations, including experimental activities, bookings, and maintenance of specialised equipment and materials. You will supervise and train staff and students, support teaching initiatives, and contribute to workshops and presentations. The position involves advancing platform services, maintaining quality standards, driving continuous improvement, resolving technical issues, and fostering strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration.

As a successful candidate, you will demonstrate strong expertise in routine histology techniques, with sound knowledge of advanced processes including immunohistochemistry and tissue analysis. You will apply advanced analytical, technical and problem-solving capabilities to adapt methods and implement effective workflows. You will possess excellent communication skills, alongside proven ability to prepare technical documentation, deliver training, uphold quality standards, and exercise sound judgement while managing competing priorities in a structured environment.
