The Opportunity

The Disability Adviser is a key member of Monash University’s Disability Support Services team, providing high-level expertise and support to enhance access, inclusion and student success. This position works closely with students and colleagues to assess support requirements, develop tailored adjustments and contribute to projects and initiatives that strengthen the delivery of disability support services across the University.

This position will be responsible for delivering specialist advice and coordinated support to students requiring academic adjustments, ensuring services are compliant with relevant legislation, responsive and student-centred. The role will provide high-level expertise on disability support practices to enhance equitable access and participation across Monash University. Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, the Disability Adviser will contribute to the development and review of disability-related policies, procedures and improvement initiatives, while remaining informed of legislative and sector developments. The position will also support the implementation of awareness programs that strengthen disability inclusion and understanding across the institution, while fostering strong working relationships that enable effective and efficient service delivery.

To be successful in this role you will have relevant qualifications and/or extensive experience in disability support, higher education or a related field, together with a strong understanding of disability legislation, access and equity principles, and inclusive practice. You will bring demonstrated experience in assessing and implementing reasonable adjustments, along with excellent organisational, administrative and problem-solving skills. Highly developed communication and interpersonal abilities, strong attention to detail, and the capacity to work both collaboratively and independently are essential, as is confidence using complex systems and databases to support effective service delivery.
