The Opportunity
Reporting to the Capability Lead - Student Finance SMST Program, the focus of this role will be to apply high-level finance expertise and deliver complex analytical services to support the critical build of the Student Management System Transformation (SMST). Based within the forward-thinking eSolutions portfolio, you will bridge the gap between finance and technology. Your mission will be to ensure system design decisions perfectly align with Monash accounting standards, reduce manual downstream rework, and support vital financial processes like end-of-day processing, ERP ledger-to-subledger reconciliations, and financial compliance.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for:
- Strategic Advising & Partnering: Providing strategic support, financial insights, and expert advice to senior leaders and project teams regarding ERP configurations, financial processes, and project initiatives.
- Requirement Translation: Converting current and future-state accounting requirements and policies into clear business requirements and acceptance criteria, ensuring standardized and automated financial processes across the Monash Group.
- System Testing & Validation: Validating future-state finance processes to eliminate manual effort, and supporting/executing the testing of finance-related system builds to guarantee accuracy before go-live.
- Advanced Modelling & Reporting: Conducting advanced financial modelling and developing specialized reports, recommendations, and presentations on highly complex financial issues for senior management.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining robust partnerships across business units, facilitating communication, and educating stakeholder groups on key financial policies and procedures.
About You
To excel in this role, you will bring a blend of financial acumen and technical curiosity. Specifically, we are looking for:
- Qualifications: Postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards them) coupled with extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of high-level training and education.
- System Expertise: Hands-on experience working with enterprise ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle Financials, TechnologyOne, Workday Financials) alongside a solid understanding of APIs, REST services, SQL, data structures, and system logs.
- Financial Literacy: A deep understanding of core accounting processes, reconciliation workflows, and management accounting principles (budgeting and forecasting).
- Project & People Skills: Highly-developed organizational and planning skills to manage tight deadlines, matched with exceptional consulting, relationship-building, and negotiation skills to influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
