The Opportunity
The Learning Adviser at Monash University supports students’ academic success through the delivery of responsive learning programs and services. Working within the Student Academic Success team, this role develops and delivers high-quality learning materials, provides targeted support to students, and proactively engages those requiring assistance. Using data-informed insights, the position enhances learning outcomes, progression, and completion across diverse student cohorts.
This position will be responsible for working collaboratively within a motivated Learning Advising team to enhance student academic success, progress and retention, and implementing a best-practice, relational and inclusive Learning Advising model across Monash University. The role will provide specialist one-to-one learning consultations to undergraduate, postgraduate and HDR students, supporting academic, language and study skill development. It will design, deliver and project manage high-quality training programs, workshops and online learning resources for students and staff, ensuring timely and effective delivery. The position will contribute to the development and promotion of digital learning materials and the continuous improvement of learning support initiatives. It will also analyse and report on program outcomes, using data to evaluate impact and inform service improvement. In addition, this role will collaborate with faculties and stakeholders across Monash University to deliver strategic projects aligned with institutional priorities, while contributing to broader Student Academic Success initiatives and undertaking other duties as required.
To be successful in this role you will have a relevant degree in education, learning and teaching or equivalent experience in higher education or related fields. You will bring strong expertise in learning and academic skills development, underpinned by contemporary knowledge of teaching and learning theory and practice in tertiary education. You will have proven experience building effective stakeholder relationships and working in student-centred environments. Highly developed organisational and planning skills will enable you to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a complex, fast-paced setting. You will demonstrate confidence using digital learning technologies, learning management systems, data platforms. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a collaborative approach and the ability to contribute to strategic projects, are essential.
