The Opportunity
The Department of Immunology within the School of Translational Medicine (STM) is seeking an outstanding educator to join our academic team as a Lecturer (Education Focused). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our world-class immunology teaching and research program, located at the heart of the Alfred Research Alliance.
With a high weighting toward teaching alongside research responsibilities, this role offers the chance to shape the next generation of biomedical and translational medicine graduates. You’ll join a collegial and innovative department that integrates foundational science with clinical translation to advance understanding of the immune system and its role in disease.
About the Role
You will play a key role in designing, coordinating and delivering engaging undergraduate and graduate education in immunology and translational medicine. This includes developing innovative lectures, tutorials and practical sessions for both face-to-face and online delivery.
To Be Successful, You Will Have
- A doctoral or master’s qualification in a relevant discipline area, or equivalent accreditation and standing.
- Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching, curriculum development and unit coordination (appropriate to level) in immunology or related biomedical fields.
- Evidence of scholarly and/or disciplinary research with publications, student supervision, and grant success (appropriate to level).
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary academic environment.
- A commitment to inclusive teaching, continuous improvement and advancing student learning outcomes.
The School of Translational Medicine (STM) forms part of the Sub-Faculty of Translational Medicine and Public Health within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. Located at the Alfred Research Alliance, STM bridges discovery science, clinical trials, interventions and registries to accelerate the translation of research into improved health outcomes.
The Department of Immunology conducts world-class research and provides outstanding discipline-specific undergraduate and postgraduate education. Leveraging co-location with some of Australia’s leading clinical and translational research groups, the department explores the immune basis of disease initiation and progression, with the aim of identifying new therapeutic approaches. Our programs ensure that students benefit from up-to-date, research-informed teaching that reflects the rapidly evolving field of immunology.
