The Opportunity

We are seeking a Project Officer to provide high-quality project support to the Healthy Stores Project, contributing to improved remote food retail and community nutrition outcomes. The role includes coordinating store benchmarking assessments, managing logistics and travel to remote communities and preparing tailored feedback for participating stores. Working closely with the project lead and partners, the position ensures activities are delivered efficiently, safely and in line with established protocols and program objectives.

This role plays a key part in stakeholder engagement and capability building, including mentoring health service practitioners and store-based assessors involved in the Healthy Stores Project. It supports coordination of governance groups, roundtables, and communication activities with key partners such as NIAA and remote store organisations. In addition, the Project Officer contributes to data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting, translating findings into clear, practical outputs for diverse audiences and decision-makers.

We are seeking someone with a degree in nutrition and relevant experience, or substantial experience in project coordination or related fields. Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse stakeholders and work within established protocols and ethical frameworks. Experience working in remote communities and knowledge of food systems or remote retail environments will be highly regarded. The position is based in Darwin, Northern Territory and requires regular travel to communities across the Northern Territory, Far North Queensland and remote regions of Western Australia.
