The Opportunity
The Office of the University Registrar is seeking a Senior Advisor to lead the governance, assurance and reporting frameworks that ensure institutional compliance under the Higher Education Support Act (HESA) and the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act.
Reporting directly to the University Registrar with a high degree of autonomy, you will serve as the primary institutional authority on student legislative compliance. Your core focus will be interpreting evolving regulatory settings including CRICOS, TCSI, National Code and HELP loan schemes and translating them into practical operational controls, assurance activities and risk management pathways across a complex matrix environment.
In this role, you will provide strategic briefings to university leadership and the designated Principal Executive Officer, maintain the legislative compliance issues register, oversee remediation efforts and supervise one direct report. You will work collaboratively with key portfolios such as Admissions, Student Experience and Monash College to embed compliant practices into everyday operations without adding unnecessary administrative burden.
To succeed, you will hold postgraduate qualifications or equivalent extensive higher education experience, backed by deep technical expertise in ESOS and HESA legislation. You bring a proven track record in regulatory monitoring, risk assessment, and policy implementation, paired with exceptional analytical abilities and the communication skills required to influence diverse stakeholders across the institution.
