The Opportunity

Join our team at an exciting point of transformation as a Business Data Analyst within the SMST Reporting stream. You’ll play a hands-on role in helping faculties, business units and central teams transition from legacy reporting, local workarounds and fragmented processes to governed, trusted and sustainable reporting solutions.

Working closely with diverse stakeholders, you’ll uncover business needs, analyse data and reporting challenges, translate requirements into practical solutions, and help users confidently adopt new reporting platforms and ways of working. You’ll also be instrumental during cutover, go-live, hyper care and transition, providing practical problem-solving and support when it matters most.

This is an opportunity to combine business analysis, data analysis, stakeholder engagement and change to make a tangible impact on how Monash uses and understands data. You’ll help build data literacy, strengthen governed practices and turn recurring business needs into durable reporting products and service improvements.

We are looking for someone with a genuine willingness and eagerness to learn, continuously upskill and embrace change. You’ll be supported to expand your capabilities in modern analytics and reporting while helping others navigate the transition to contemporary, governed and sustainable solutions.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Monash operating environment: Understanding of faculty/business unit contexts, local reporting practices, operational processes and student data usage; current Monash faculty or business unit experience is strongly preferred.

  • Planning and prioritisation: Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.

  • Stakeholder engagement: Demonstrated consulting and relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust, influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

  • Analytical capability: Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to translate business and data challenges into clear requirements, actions and escalation pathways.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain reporting and data concepts clearly to varied audiences.

  • Data and reporting mindset: Practical understanding of local reporting, operations and student data, with a willingness to learn new reporting platforms and support governed ways of working.

  • Presentation and knowledge sharing: Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging presentations, training and guidance, and share knowledge to build capability across user communities
