The Opportunity

The Office of the University Registrar is seeking an Adviser, Student Legislative Compliance to support the coordination of institutional governance, assurance and reporting activities under the Higher Education Support Act (HESA) and Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act frameworks.

Reporting to the Senior Adviser, Student Legislative Compliance under broad direction, you will undertake compliance monitoring, policy research and data analysis across a complex matrix environment. In this role, you will monitor legislative changes, maintain compliance registers, coordinate assurance reviews, track remediation actions and prepare high-quality reports, committee papers and dashboards. You will work collaboratively with operational teams across the university to gather evidence, ensure regulatory requirements are embedded into daily business processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

This role requires an undergraduate degree with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of higher education training. You bring sound knowledge of higher education compliance frameworks, specifically the Higher Education Support Act and the Education Services for Overseas Students Act or the demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire it. Strong analytical capabilities, excellent written communication skills and a proven track record in coordinating compliance, governance or quality assurance activities across cross-functional teams are essential.
