The Opportunity
An opportunity is available for an experienced operations and facilities professional to manage the physical footprint of the Sub-Faculty of Clinical and Molecular Medicine.
Based at the Monash Health Clayton precinct, the Sub-Faculty encompasses a specialized research ecosystem under the Monash Health Research Precinct (MHRP). Operating through close co-location with the School of Clinical Sciences, Monash Health, and the Hudson Institute of Medical Research, this footprint directly supports high-impact discovery and translational clinical research, including a large clinical trials facility
As the Senior Operations and Infrastructure Manager, you will report to the Sub-Faculty Dean (with a dotted line to the Group Manager, Infrastructure and Facilities) to provide strategic direction, expert advice, and operational management across these facilities.
Key Focus Areas
- Controlled Environments: Oversee critical, high-stakes research facilities, including -80°C storage suites, cryo facilities, and radiation management.
- Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Ensure full adherence to OGTR standards, Drugs Poisons and Controlled Substances regulations, hazardous waste protocols, and overall OHS compliance.
- Precinct Projects & Space Management: Act as the primary operational liaison for space planning, lease support, local emergency management, and building projects across University divisions and precinct partners.
- Operations & Team Leadership: Guide local operational processes toward continuous improvement while managing and developing professional staff.
What You Bring
- Postgraduate qualifications or equivalent extensive experience managing technical facilities within a medical or scientific environment.
- Proven capability to evaluate operational risks and respond effectively to acute events across complex laboratory settings.
- Demonstrated team leadership expertise focused on staff development and service excellence.
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a track record of building successful partnerships across senior stakeholder groups
