Remuneration: $124,343 - $137,251 pa HEW Level 08 (plus 17% employer superannuation), although a competitive remuneration package can be applied for an experienced candidate

The Opportunity

Join the team building Monash University’s MAVERIC, one of Australia's first AI supercomputing platforms and the largest AI research computing platform in the Australian higher education sector. This is a frontier position responsible for designing and operating the next generation of networking infrastructure powering AI, HPC, and world-leading research.

  • Lead the design, implementation and optimisation of the data centre network services, infrastructure and associated solutions of the AI supercomputing platform.
  • Design, deploy and optimise NVIDIA networking technologies, including Mellanox Ethernet, InfiniBand and rail-optimised network architectures.
  • Build and enhance network observability by leveraging NVIDIA Unified Fabric Manager (UFM), NVIDIA NetQ, telemetry and analytics.
  • Drive Infrastructure as Code, DevOps and DevSecOps practices using Ansible and automation frameworks.
  • Ensure operational readiness through monitoring, validation, testing and seamless production transitions.
  • Design and implement secure network architectures through network segmentation, microsegmentation and compliance with information security standards.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, prepare technical specifications, assess vendor solutions, and oversee system commissioning, acceptance testing and production readiness.

To excel in this role, you should possess;

  • Extensive experience designing and operating enterprise, HPC, or AI data centre networks.
  • Strong expertise in Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, routing, switching, network security, and automation.
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible and working within DevOps or Infrastructure-as-Code environments.
  • Experience deploying and optimising NVIDIA networking technologies, including InfiniBand and Ethernet fabrics.
  • Industry certifications such as CCIE, CCDE, or the NVIDIA Certified Professional – AI Networking (NCP-AI Networking) certification are highly regarded.
